I put the ReelUp HS X6 on a light spinning rod and it has been a very pleasant surprise. The reel feels solid in the hand but still light enough to cast all day. The retrieve is smooth right out of the box and the spool turns quietly with no grinding or wobble.
The drag is easy to fine tune and starts up smoothly, which is exactly what I want for lighter line. It also looks great in person - the finish on the spool and body has a clean metallic shine that has held up well so far. For the price I am very happy with this reel and would buy another size for a second setup.

This one has honestly been one of the best experiences so far. The reel looks great in person, feels solid, and runs surprisingly smooth for the price.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! We are really happy to hear that the X6 is performing well for you. We always want to make things right if anything arrives less than perfect, so we appreciate you giving us the chance to help. If you ever need anything in the future, feel free to reach out- tight lines and enjoy your new reel!
Light, smooth and quiet. This reel feels great in the hand and runs very quietly on retrieve. I'm taking one star off only because there's no rotor brake when the bail is open, the rotor will drift a little until it touches the trip ramp.
Still, I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a quality ultralight spinning reel. I paired mine with a 6' ultralight two-piece rod and the combo feels amazing.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with the X6 2000s! We're really glad to hear that the reel feels light, smooth and quiet on the water.
You're absolutely right about the rotor behavior when the bail is open, this design keeps the reel simple and lightweight, but we truly appreciate you pointing it out. Feedback like yours helps us keep improving future versions.
We hope your X6 continues to be a reliable partner on your ultralight adventures!
If you ever need setup tips or have questions, we're always here to help.
I paired the HS X6 spinning reel with my 8 ft Okuma surf rod, and the casting distance honestly surprised me. The X6 (I use the 2500 size) handled its first trip to the PNW surf really well. Spooled with 30 lb Spiderwire braid, it reeled in big redtail surfperch and even double Dungeness crabs smoothly and with no hesitation.
I ended up ordering three more and matched them with different rod lengths (8 ft, 9.5 ft, and 11 ft). I also own a couple of Royal Legend II reels, but the X6 has quickly become my favorite thanks to its smooth drag, light weight, and long casting performance. Great reel for the price.
Thank you so much for the detailed feedback! We are really glad to hear that your HS X6 performed so well in the PNW surf. The X6 is designed for long casting and smooth retrieve, and it's awesome to hear it handled redtail surfperch and even double Dungeness crabs with ease.
Pairing the 2500 size with 30 lb braid is a great setup, and we appreciate you trusting the reel enough to order more for your other rods. If you ever share any photos from your trips, feel free to tag us - we'd love to cheer you on.
Tight lines!
After a few months of use, I began to notice some problems. The reel started causing line twists that eventually led to bird nests. The anti reverse also has more back play than I expected. There was even a knocking sound, which I discovered came from a bent counterbalance weight inside the rotor hitting internal parts.
The reel worked well at first, but these issues appeared over time and affected the overall experience.
The action is very smooth, and with thinner line I can feel even the smallest bites. Casting distance is excellent as well. Overall, a great reel for light freshwater fishing.
Thank you for taking the time to share this detailed feedback. It's truly helps us improve.
What you described is not normal performance, and we would like to assist you:
Possible Causes & Quick Fixes
1 Line twist and bird nesting:
Often caused by over-spooled line, incorrect line direction during spooling, or very loose drag during retrieve. We can guide you step-by-step to re-spool correctly if needed.
2 Back play in anti-reverse:
This may indicate wear in the internal bearing, which is covered under our quality guarantee.
3 Knocking sound from bent counterbalance:
This suggests the rotor encountered impact or shipping stress. In this case, we will gladly replace the reel or provide the necessary part.
