I’ve been using this reel mainly around heavier cover and structure, and that’s where it really stands out. You don’t have to baby it when setting the hook or pulling fish out. It feels solid and controlled even when things get messy.
There’s enough power to confidently pull fish through grass and thicker areas without feeling like the reel is struggling. That’s something I didn’t get from some of my lighter setups.
It did take a few casts to dial in the settings, but once I got it right, the control felt very consistent. Not a finesse reel, but that’s not what this is built for anyway.
If you’re fishing heavier cover, this gives you a lot more confidence.
That’s exactly where the Aurora is meant to shine.
Heavy cover fishing demands power and control at the same time, and that confidence on hooksets and pull-outs is a big part of it.
Glad it’s holding up the way it should in those conditions.
Good reel but took a few adjustments before it felt right. After that, very controlled.
That’s fair — once dialed in, the braking and control really open up, especially for heavier setups.
No hesitation setting hooks in heavy structure. Reel feels locked in.
Glad to hear that. That locked-in feel under pressure is critical when fishing heavy cover.
Been fishing thicker cover and this reel feels solid. Plenty of control pulling fish out.
That’s exactly what the Aurora is built for — heavy cover control and confident hooksets when things get tight.
Using this around heavier cover and it feels confident on the rod. The reel stays controlled on the cast and has enough power that I am not babying it around thicker structure.
Awesome to hear. The Aurora was built for exactly that kind of heavier-cover confidence, so we are glad it feels right at home in thicker structure.
