Really fun little reel for finesse fishing. It handles lighter lures well and feels quick on the cast. It took a short session to get used to, but after that it was a blast to fish.
Love hearing that. The Athena Micro was made to feel quick and enjoyable with lighter finesse presentations, so we are glad it clicked for you after a short adjustment period.

リール本体も最初は少し重めに感じましたが、何度か釣行しているうちに、むしろ安定感があって扱いやすいと感じるようになりました。
慣れてくると気にならず、実釣では安心して使えるリールだと思います。

I am in no way an expert, as I have only been fishing for a little over six months, but this reel has turned out to be an incredible value for the price.
I originally purchased it as an inexpensive replacement for a broken reel that came attached to a discarded combo I found on a jetty. The old setup had a broken handle, and I assume the previous owner decided to leave it behind rather than take it home and repair it. The rod itself was nothing special, but it was still perfectly usable.
After receiving this reel, I spooled it with a mono backing, a braided main line, and a fluorocarbon leader??and suddenly the entire setup came back to life. This reel is a small powerhouse.
It casts very well, operates extremely smoothly, and feels solidly built. It has now become my main reel, replacing the Shimano Sienna FG that I previously used on my primary rod.
I genuinely appreciate ReelUp for offering a reel with this level of quality at such a reasonable price. If I had not purchased it, that discarded rod probably would have ended up in a landfill instead of helping me land some of my recent catches.
I usually use Shimano Stradic SW reels as my baseline for comparison, so I honestly did not expect too much from this reel at first. I originally purchased it as a temporary option until the Stradic SW fits into my budget.
Earlier this evening, I took this reel out for a quick test on my crappie setup and unexpectedly hooked into a very large fish. The fight lasted about five to ten minutes. I had to adjust the drag several times, and the fish almost broke me off twice when it darted back toward the structure. Eventually, it tired out and I managed to bring it to the bank.
Here is my unbiased review:
Casting and retrieving were both smooth and consistent. There were no clicks, stiffness, or grinding at any moment. During the fight, the drag peeled out cleanly without hesitation or sticking, which genuinely surprised me at this price point.
In terms of performance, this reel comes surprisingly close to a four-hundred-dollar reel. The only difference I can feel so far is the momentum while reeling. This reel continues spinning for about two to three rotations, while a high-end Shimano may continue for four to five. It is a small detail, but worth mentioning.
For the cost, this reel exceeded every expectation I had. I would purchase another one without hesitation.
The drag system on this reel works extremely well, and the overall build quality feels solid and dependable. I really like the design, and it is very comfortable to hold during long fishing sessions.
Both the reeling and casting are smooth and consistent, making the reel enjoyable to use from the very first cast. For the price, it delivers excellent value and performance.
