I paired the GL series with my 12' surf rod and 55 lb braid, it holds a ton of line. I've taken it to the beach multiple times and it's handled 3-4 ft sharks without any trouble. Casting distance is great too; with a 6 oz weight I can easily send bait far out. There's been no noticeable salt or sand inside the gears so far. Not perfect, but definitely a strong performer for the price.
hank you so much for the detailed feedback! We're glad to hear the GL series is performing well on your surf setup-especially with strong fights like 3-4 ft sharks. Its sealed design and passivated gears are made exactly for that kind of saltwater environment.

This 3500 reel is genuinely well built. It feels solid, smooth, and reliable on the water, and I can confidently recommend it to anyone. I've tested a lot of reels over the years, and I'm always honest when something doesn't perform well. But this one has been impressive from the start. For the price, the quality is much better than I expected.

Great fishing reel for beginners. It's smooth, easy to crank, has a comfortable grip, and feels very lightweight during use. For anyone starting out or looking for a simple and reliable reel, this one is a solid choice.

I had ordered a reel from one of the other lesser known brands and found the reel to be grindy and not smooth. I did some research and came across this Reelup reel. Finally got a chance to use it this weekend and i couldn't be happier. Reels in smooth, the drag was nice, and the build feels sturdy. Unlike the other cheaper brands this one was mostly metal and not plastic.
Over all im super happy with with this reel. It not only works good but it looks really good too
It is pretty smooth. I only gave it 4 stars because there are high end reels out there but this is a good budget reel and I recommend it for the average fisherman.
