After a few trips with the 4000 size, I can confidently say this reel earns its price tag. The build quality is immediately noticeable-solid, tight, and clearly designed for saltwater abuse. The drag is powerful and smooth under load, and it stays consistent even when a fish makes a hard run in the surf.
Casting distance is excellent with this reel. Paired with a longer surf rod, it launches rigs cleanly and recovers line smoothly without hesitation. I also appreciate how stable it feels under pressure- no flex, no grinding, just steady power.
It's definitely heavier than entry-level reels, but that weight translates into strength and confidence. If you're serious about surf fishing and want something that won't quit after a season, this reel is absolutely worth it.

I was a bit worried at first because I know saltwater gear has to be tough and able to take a beating, but at this price I decided to take a chance on it. When the reel arrived I was pleasantly surprised it feels very solid in the hand and has already held up great on several deep sea trips.
I'll admit the price tag did make me hesitate, especially if you're thinking about buying more than one setup, but after using it offshore I don't really feel bad about what I paid. I'm already planning to order another.
